How To Measure your wall

Measuring your wall is a crucial step. Read this quick guide to help you take your measurements right.

MAKE AN IMPACT

So, you've chosen the wall you want to jazz up—fantastic! Now, are you thinking of covering it partially or fully? Opting for partial coverage can give smaller rooms a focal point without overwhelming them, while covering the entire wall can really make a room pop and completely transform its look. It's also a great value for your money! But before you go ahead, let's make sure the size fits just right.

Standard wall

Not every wall is perfectly straight. That's why it's crucial to measure at two different spots. For width, measure at the top and bottom, and for height, measure on the left and right sides. If the numbers differ, go with the greater one. Make sure not to include baseboards or moldings in your measurements. And always double-check to avoid any mishaps!

Slanted Wall

Measuring a slanted wall follows the same process as for a standard wall. Always measure the longest and widest sections of the wall. Disregard the slope or slant, and install your wall mural as a full rectangle. After installation, you can trim out the sloped area as needed.

Vaulted or Arched Wall

Similar to measuring a slanted wall, ensure to take measurements at the longest and widest sections of the wall, disregarding any slants or curvature (such as in the case of an arched wall). Your wall mural will arrive as a rectangle, necessitating the cutting of any slants or excess material during installation.

Wall With Obstacles

We typically advise including any obstacles like doors or windows in your measurements. In this scenario, you'll need to trim your wall mural or wallpaper on your end and dispose of the excess (unless you intend to cover the doors/windows). However, there are instances where customizing your wall mural around doors and windows might be preferable, particularly if the amount of waste is significant and doesn't make financial sense. Take a look at this picture to understand how to measure around doors and windows. For more complex projects involving multiple walls, feel free to request a rendering from our design team! This will provide insight into which sections of the wall mural will be visible and which will be trimmed off. We can also adjust the design to fit your wall in the best possible way.

Multiple Walls

For those considering installing a wall mural across multiple walls, it's advisable to combine the width of all walls and order your mural as a single print rather than multiple prints. However, if you prefer ordering multiple sections, one for each wall, feel free to reach out to us. We'll ensure that the mural remains continuous and matches seamlessly at the corners.
